Professor Matti's Revenge

Chapter 1: New Beginnings

He could smell it in the air. The cold winter night reeked of it. It simmered around him like a boiling heat, which, in the frigid January weather, was like a Godsent. He stared into the horizon, and there it was. It was far away, but its gleaming eyes were unmistakable. He began to feel the rushing of blood. The raging hot plasma coursed through his veins like super-charged fuel oozing with intention, just waiting to burst into gear and send his body charging into oblivion at ten times the speed of light. Yet for the while he stood his ground, giving himself the chance to size it up and reorganize his goals with quiet introspection. Seeing it there was exhilirating and invigorating, and seeing the distance between them was both daunting and exciting.

He cursed it. Its elusiveness had been the cause of his frustratingly disappointing mediocrity. Its very absence had lent itself to his torment and torture. He had searched for it far and wide, ready to tackle it head on and pull himself forward into the promised land. Yet it had remained hidden, occasionally calling to him mockingly, out of sight yet ever present in his mind. Until now. Now that it was in his sights, now that he could feel the ripples of its pulsating aura traveling through his tensing muscles, it felt unreal. He had longed for this moment for ages, and here he was now, on the brink.

He knew it would take tremendous effort on his part. He dreaded confronting the snarling demons that guarded the promised land, the demons that he would have to slay. He knew he would have to burn old bridges and build new ones, and he would have to find strength and courage from places he had never before thought of looking. Yet seeing it there in front of him gave him the courage, the energy and the motivation that he had been lacking previously. He smirked at it and called to it under his breath, projecting the mutter with his powerful mind so that it echoed into the night, "Bring it on you @#$&".

His thoughts now resonated throughout the land. Its message was a song of inspiration and hope, an epic refrain which solidified the enigma of the legendary moment. As the sun began to rise above his head, he steadied himself, immersed himself in the prospect of new beginnings, and readied himself for the challenge:

"I see you there; and you are mine. I will take you by the horns and bring you to bay, you will bow before me on bended knees and submit yourself to my every will and whim. You have hidden yourself from me for too long. But no longer. I call out to you, the being who calls yourself "CHANGE"; you are now my vessel. Are you ready?"
